The Scopy of elbow usually is less common in-patient procedure. Usually the doctor will counsel you for this procedure only in cases resistant to physiotherapy and rehabilitation. The benefits of the procedure depends mainly on your diagnosis and post-operative expectations.
The cases with symptomatic involvement of a focal area of elbow joint or a focussed lesion benefit the most. Generalised elbow arthritis or post-traumatic arthritis patients may only do well only transiently and may become symptomatic with similar grade of symptoms soon after surgery.
The main indications for elbow arthroscopy are:
- Osseous impingement
- Osteochondral defect
- Loose body removal
- Arthrolysis and debridement
- Synovectomy and biopsy
- Diagnostic arthroscopy
